Aheloy is in South-Eastern part of Bulgaria, located midway between Burgas International Airport and Sunny Beach. It takes about 15 minutes to drive from the airport to the village, which is ideally located just before the traffic jams that are usual in the summer season on the road towards Sunny Beach. The distance between the capital city of Sofia and Aheloy is 400 km. The village is 34 km away from the District center, the city of Burgas. The health resort Pomorie with its curing mud celebrated worldwide is only 10 km away. The village of Ravda, a rapidly developing resort is 3 km away and the biggest Bulgarian seaside resort, Sunny Beach is 7 km away. The town of Nessebar, a unique tourist center in terms of history, culture and architecture is also 7 km away from the village.
There are many mild winters and cool summers, making it pleasant and desirable place to live and relax. The temperature ranges from -4 to +30 degrees Celsius.
The village of Aheloy is situated in an area of great variety of natural landscapes and resources and diversity of architecture, traditions, farming, ethnography, folklore and cultural monuments. There are a number of churches, monasteries, architectural reserves, preserved folklore, cultural traditions, crafts and original customs. There are some mineral springs and rare plant species. Almost all inhabited areas in the region are ones of centuries-old   history as there are many finds evidencing the glory of that part of Coastal Thrace dating back to Middle Ages. Currently, Aheloy is a small, beautiful and calm town, with the status of a resort village. The main occupation of the local population is construction and marine tourism. An important event associated with the history of Aheloy is the Battle of the Aheloy River, August 20, 917, when King Simeon I defeated a large Byzantine army led by Leo Phocas. Tsar Simeon I won a decisive victory and turned Bulgaria into a hegemon in southeastern Europe.

Town Aheloy has a marina mooring suitable for both fishing boats and the sailing and motor yachts. Beach starting from Aheloy camping site spreads to Pomorie (approximately 10 linear kilometers and a width of 10 to 20 linear meters) is suitable for sunbathing. On holiday makers offered water wheels, surf, wind and engine jets. In contrast to the strong salinity of the world's oceans, the Black Sea is less salty that favors the bathing water. The area is ideal for catching freshwater fish (Aheloy River) and for marine species (Black Sea). Many avid fishermen catch fish year round.

Convenient bus transport connects the city with Burgas International Airport, the resort of Ravda, the town of Nessebar, the resort of Sunny Beach, the town of Pomorie and the town of Burgas.
